The post holder is accountable to the Chief Executive for providing strategic leadership and operational management of the Adult Care Services and Registration functions of RQIA relating to Nursing and Residential Care Homes, Daycare, Domiciliary Care Agencies, Nursing Agencies and others required to register with RQIA.
Core deliverables include a programme of regular inspection and the assessment of risk-based intelligence leading to appropriate, proportionate regulatory response; publication of inspection reports; and ensuring engagement with service users and families, and with staff, in considering actions to ensure continuous improvement, and compliance with regulations and standards.
The Director is required throughout to ensure the independence, impartiality and integrity of RQIA's Quality Assurance function is protected and enhanced.
The constraints within which the post must operate are mostly defined by high-level policy and legislation.
