Membership

The Institute of Regulation (IoR) exists to provide and promote education and training in the theory and practice of regulation. We offer research and the development and promotion of good practice in regulation.

Membership is open to regulatory professions and experts.

We offer three types of membership:

Regulator membership – available to regulators based in the UK, the Channel Islands, Ireland, and worldwide.

Affiliate membership – available to charities, third sector organisations and public sector bodies.

Individual membership – ideal for freelancers, Non-Executive Directors, retired regulatory professionals, and students specialising in regulation.

Regulator Members

The Institute of Regulation primarily focuses on regulation in the UK, Ireland, and the Channel Islands. Membership is open to regulators internationally, as many of our discussions and resources are relevant to regulators worldwide, regardless of geographical location.

Affiliate Members

Affiliate members can be from a variety of sectors, including charities, the third sector, public sector bodies or universities. Membership fees are based on a scale, according to the size and type of organisation. The IOR membership year runs from 1 April to 31 March. Annual membership fees are pro-rated based on the month of joining.

Individual Members

Individual members pay £120 a year, with 50% discounts for full-time students and retired professionals. Further concessionary discounts will apply for those who are unemployed, taking a career break or on long-term sick leave. The IoR membership year is from 1 April to 31 March. Annual Individual fees are pro-rated for new applicants who join from October.
