Job description
As a Principal Regulatory Coach, you will be responsible for coaching and developing a team of Senior Regulators, Regulators, and Assistant Regulators within the Investigation & Enforcement Unit (IEU). The IEU is tasked with ensuring that appropriate investigations and enforcement actions are undertaken where Principal Accountable Persons (PAPs) have not fulfilled their responsibility to manage building safety.
The successful candidate will support the team in achieving competence through effective coaching and development, while also contributing to quality workstreams and leading Learning & Development (L&D) initiatives within the unit.
As a Principal Regulatory Coach, you will be involved with a range of activities including:
-Designing a thorough regulatory coaching & training program that uses insights from initial training, e-learning modules, and hands-on operational experience
-Establishing and utilising a network of contacts across the discipline including Operational Inspectors, Sector teams and Specialists to support programme delivery and create/ run regulatory training sessions enhancing staff expertise in fire safety, structural issues, and regulatory topic
-Identifying and delivering effective learning opportunities to improve regulatory capability such as: facilitating presentations and workshops, utilising materials from the Learning & Development Team and conducting one-to-one sessions with regulatory staff
-Participating in Multi-Disciplinary Teams meetings to provide targeted support and coaching, workshops or teach-ins based on real case studies and external learnings to ensure efficient knowledge sharing
-Providing guidance and coaching on regulatory decision-making and the practical application of regulatory principles
-Supporting staff in fostering a high-performance culture that operates with pace and thrives in a demanding casework environment
-Conducting debriefs to assess regulators' understanding of the above content, and arrange additional learning opportunities where needed
-Providing regular progress updates to line managers and monthly development summaries to Heads of Operations with targeted action for improvement in identified areas aligning with the regulatory quality assurance framework learning outcomes
-Undertaking projects and developing guidance, processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support operational activities
