The Water Industry Commission for Scotland (WICS) is the independent economic regulator of Scotland’s water and wastewater industry. Its role is to ensure that Scottish Water delivers high-quality, sustainable, and cost-effective services to customers while supporting Scotland’s ambitious net-zero and environmental goals. At a time of significant change and opportunity in the sector, WICS is seeking an exceptional leader to serve as its next Chief Executive Officer.

This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of Scotland’s water industry. As CEO, you will provide strategic leadership to the organisation, ensuring that its regulatory approach continues to drive innovation, efficiency, and long-term sustainability. You will work closely with government, industry, and consumer bodies, developing strong relationships and influencing key decisions that impact the sector. A key part of the role will be overseeing the economic regulation of Scottish Water, ensuring that customers receive value for money and that the industry remains resilient in the face of future challenges.

The successful candidate will bring a strong track record of strong and values-led leadership, ideally as a CEO or at executive level, at a senior level within a relevant area, which could include regulation or infrastructure development. They will have exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across government, industry, and consumer groups. Commercial and financial acumen will be essential, as well be the ability to understand complex corporate finance and investment plans.

This role requires a values-driven leader with the ability to foster a culture of transparency, integrity and excellence within WICS. The CEO will be responsible for guiding a talented team, ensuring the organisation remains forward-thinking and continues to deliver its mission with clarity and impact.
