Could you play a key role in influencing and shaping the regulation of health and social care in Jersey?
The Minister for the Environment is looking to appoint a Chair for its independent Jersey Care Commission.
The Jersey Care Commission (the Commission) regulates and inspects services for both adults and children, provided by the Government of Jersey, Parishes, private providers, and the voluntary sector to ensure that people receive high quality and safe care.
The services the Commission regulates includes, but will not be limited to, care homes providing nursing and personal care or personal support for people with a range of health and social care needs, care provided to people in their own homes, adult day care services and residential and other social care services for children and young people.
The Commission was established by the Regulation of Care (Jersey) Law 2014 as an independent arm’s-length body with perpetual succession. The Law came into force in January 2019. Commissioners are appointed by the Minister for the Environment. Commissioners are experienced professionals with successful careers in senior managerial positions, including experience in delivering and regulating health and social care in other jurisdictions.
Core skills required:
We are looking for an exceptional person who has extensive experience of operating at a senior level, who can provide strong leadership and has the vision, knowledge and ability to continue the development of this Board.
With experience of and/or familiarity with inspection or regulation regimes, you must be committed to improving the outcomes for people who use health and social care services and protecting Jersey’s most vulnerable citizens.
Contract:
The Chair will be offered a contract for services to work a minimum of 30 days per annum a minimum of 10 days being spent in Jersey, at £650 per day, plus reasonable expenses. The contract will be for a three-year period, subject to formal review at 6 months.
