About the Professional Standards Authority

We are the oversight body for 10 statutory regulators of professionals working in the Health and Social Care sector. We promote the health, safety and well-being of patients, service users and the public by raising standards of regulation and registration of people working in health and care. We are a small, independent body, accountable to the UK Parliament.

About the role

We are looking to recruit a fixed term Policy Manager for nine months with the possibility of extension (maternity cover). You will work within the PSA’s Policy Team whose role is to influence regulatory improvement through policy development and research, and to provide policy advice, including to the four Departments of Health and Social Care across the UK. This may include work to take forward recommendations of the PSA’s 2022 report Safer care for all, and a project scoping potential benefits of a common code of conduct for health and care professionals.

About you

We are looking to recruit an individual who can:

Develop the PSA’s position on key elements of regulatory policy and practice

Develop and implement ways to support and encourage implementation of our recommendations

Establish relationships with stakeholders that help inform and promote our policy positions

Represent the Authority at external events including working groups, committees, and conferences

Manage a portfolio of policy, research and/or consultation projects, in order to improve health and care regulation and so better protect the public

Line manage a Policy Officer/Adviser.
