As a Risk Analyst in the Governance Team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that the Risk Control Framework is well managed, delivering support to your team and colleagues across the Commission to implement risk management processes and procedures.

Governance is a key function at the Commission, supporting the Board, Executive, Expert Groups, and Commission colleagues to ensure the high standards of corporate governance, information management and risk management.

Your Responsibilities
It’s about good risk management. You will be part of the team leading Risk and Assurance work and you will be an advocate for the importance and benefits of good risk management. You will provide the analytical support required for maintaining the Commission’s Risk Control Framework ensuring risk responses are identified with clear ownership, monitoring, and reporting.
• It’s about collaboration. You will work closely with teams across the Commission to identify common areas of risk and informing policy and governance to enable development of controls as required.
• It’s about data. You will use your analytical skills and ability to identify and interpret different risks across multiple data sources, and to create visual presentations to share risk information and develop insightful reporting.
• It’s about support. You will help to build capacity and capability for internal stakeholders. You will support the promotion of risk management awareness and where necessary deliver training, guidance and awareness sessions for Commission colleagues.
• It’s about organisation. You will be part of a busy team working to tight deadlines to deliver risk information and reporting to support decision making at the highest level of the Gambling Commission.
• It’s about assurance. You will monitor relevant Audit recommendations to ensure agreed actions are implemented and will maintain the Commission’s assurance framework based on the three lines of defence model.

What we’re looking for
Essential criteria:
1. A good understanding of the key principles and concepts of risk management, and a knowledge of project management techniques gained from direct experience of working within a risk management framework.
2. Experience of data analysis and using data to develop reporting and presentations.
3. Experience of providing support and guidance to colleagues and developing training and awareness raising resources.
4. Strong communication skills with experience of working with stakeholders at a range of levels. Able to adapt style to suit the audience and to use tact and diplomacy when dealing with others.
5. Adaptable working style, being able to work independently within own sphere of responsibility, understanding when issues can be dealt with and when they need to be escalated and being able to work as part of a team to interpret and apply existing policies, to identify gaps or weaknesses and to propose solutions.
6. Influencing and negotiating skills to achieve a desired result, with resilience to overcome obstacles to delivery.
7. Able to work in a flexible hybrid way, with regular attendance in person in Birmingham (typically two days per week).
