Would you like to help us shape the use of data when regulating the higher education sector? We’re looking for an exceptional candidate who can lead a team of talented data analysts to challenge the status quo and support the Chief Data Officer to lead our change as we go through a data transformation.

About us

The Office for Students (OfS) exists to ensure that English higher education offers the best experience and the best value - for students, for taxpayers, for the economy and for the public good. We have high ambitions and offer great opportunities to get involved in bringing that vision to life.

The role

The Head of Regulatory Analytics is a new role to the OfS, introduced after the recruitment of a Chief Data Officer into the organisation. This role will play a pivotal part in the transformation of the Data function within the OfS; it will also form a key part of the Data function Senior Leadership team.

The role will be responsible for leading teams of data analysts as a manager of managers. We need somebody who can understand and translate our organisational and data vision and inspire our teams to deliver.

About you

You will have a strong background in analytics and modern data ops - ideally gained across multiple environments - and will understand the value that data can bring to organisations. Your technical knowledge will be allied with strong leadership and people development skills, and you will be an outstanding communicator, enabling you to manage relationships at all levels of an organisation.

Working for us

The OfS regulates the higher education sector on behalf of all students. We value diversity and the wealth of perspectives, experience and ideas that it brings to our work, and we strive to embed equality of opportunity in everything we do.

We recruit based on fair and open competition and welcome applications from candidates regardless of age, disability, race and ethnicity, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation and socio-economic background.

At the OfS, we recognise that flexibility can enable people to work more effectively. A set of organisation-wide principles shape our approach to flexible and hybrid working, which our teams then use as guidance on how they deliver their business goals. This would usually mean working from the office for two or three days in a typical week.

To attract the widest possible field of qualified applicants, flexible working, for example job share and part time working, apply to this role.

In addition, our Total Reward Framework offers a range of benefits to suit your way of life. These include comprehensive learning and development, annual leave starting at 25 days per year (plus public holidays), access to the highly regarded Civil Service pension scheme and a variety of health benefits.

Closing date for applications: Wednesday 6 November 2024
