Ofqual is the independent qualifications regulator for England. We currently regulate 200+ awarding organisations, and approx. 11,600 certified qualifications. These include GCSEs, AS and A levels, and a broad range of vocational and technical qualifications. About the team
We have a number of permanent senior officer roles available within our Vocational and Technical Qualifications Directorate.
The roles are available within our Qualification Delivery team and our Awarding Organisation Performance team which form part of the VTQ Operations Unit.
The VTQ Qualification Delivery team is responsible for monitoring awarding organisations’ safe delivery of vocational and technical qualifications. The team regulate awarding organisations’ response to delivery risks to specific qualification types and broader areas of qualification delivery.
The VTQ Awarding Organisations (AO) Performance team is responsible for monitoring awarding organisations’ compliance, capability, and capacity. The team is responsible for understanding and regulating risks posed by each awarding organisation’s governance and portfolio, as well as managing risks to awarding organisations’ stability driven by the wider landscape.
What will the post holder be doing?
Successful applicants will have a working knowledge and understanding of corporate governance and enterprise risk management and/or qualification development and delivery, experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams and strong analytical skills.
Duties and responsibilities to include, but is not limited to:
· Support the implementation of Ofqual’s qualification monitoring strategy by contributing to the commission or use of regulatory tools and processes including, but not limited to research, audit, investigation, and enforcement.
· Carry out detailed planning and complete timely actions to deliver regulatory activities to achieve Ofqual’s strategic priorities. Actively manage workload, identify priorities, seek colleagues’ input, meet deadlines, and keep managers informed of progress in a timely way.
· Commission and brief internal and external experts on proposed, and actual, specialist work. Ensure all relevant information is made available to them. Review feedback from experts and support managers to identify appropriate lines of enquiry, in line with Ofqual’s regulations.
· Collate and analyse intelligence about qualification delivery to draft and/or contribute to briefings and meeting agendas. Contribute to briefings, reports and presentations about key regulatory risks and issues in a way that is clear, accessible, and appropriate for the intended audience.
