The Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) is the UK’s only chartered professional body dedicated to educating, developing, and regulating actuaries worldwide. Serving over 32,000 members, the IFoA plays a crucial role in shaping actuarial education, setting professional standards, and fostering a global actuarial community.

The IFoA is seeking an exceptional individual to serve as Lay Chair of its Regulatory Board. This independent and influential position provides leadership in delivering the IFoA’s public interest regulatory responsibilities under its Royal Charter. The Regulatory Board oversees critical areas including professional conduct standards, continuing professional development, disciplinary functions, and oversight of qualifications and practice accreditation. The Chair plays a vital role in ensuring accountability, transparency, and alignment with Good Regulation principles.

The Lay Chair will lead a diverse and expert Board, set strategic direction, and represent the Board internally and externally – including engagement with members, stakeholders, regulators, and UK Government representatives. This is a unique opportunity to shape regulatory policy in a profession facing dynamic global challenges.

We are seeking an experienced, strategic leader with deep understanding of professional regulation and governance. The ideal candidate will bring excellent chairing skills, public interest perspective, and the credibility to work at senior levels across professions and government.
