The role Are you looking for a role where you can apply your policy and planning skills to really make a difference and help to protect the public? Would you like to lead a team in the fascinating and evolving area of professional standards in medicine? Are you enthused by the challenge of making sure our guidance and advice to doctors is the highest quality? If so, you may be interested in the role of Head of Strategy and Planning of our Standards and Ethics team. The person Our professional standards, with Good medical practice at the core, are at the heart of the GMC’s functions. We are looking for someone with first class planning and policy skills to lead and manage our Standards and Ethics team jointly with the other Head of Strategy and Planning. You will ensure the team’s work projects and ‘business as usual’ activities are effectively planned, prioritised, and resourced in line with business needs. You will set the vision for the team and set the programme of guidance development projects and implementation work, and plan the future work programme, working with individual project leads and providing advice and updates to the Senior Management Team and internal governance groups as required. A knowledge of healthcare and regulation is an advantage. Based either in our London or Manchester office, you will be expected to work in the office at least one day per week and to travel to the other office on occasion, for example to team meetings.
