The purpose of the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) is to serve the public interest and support UK economic growth by upholding high standards of corporate governance, corporate reporting, audit and actuarial work. One of our strategic objectives in meeting this is our proportionate regulation of accounting, audit, assurance and actuarial work. This work will expect and encourage high quality by those responsible, acting as an improvement regulator and dealing effectively and fairly with cases where there are significant or serious shortcomings.
The FRC has been through a period of significant transformation, increasing its impact and influence and building its capability and capacity. Alongside supporting public trust and confidence in audit, corporate reporting and governance, it will play a key role in supporting and contributing to UK economic growth and competitiveness.
The new Executive Director of Supervision will be a key member of the executive leadership team and will lead the FRC’s supervisory activity across the audit market, audit firms and professional bodies, and corporate reporting by large businesses. This person will play a strategic leadership role within the organisation, guiding a team of around 180 professionals and shaping the continuous improvement of the UK’s audit quality. The role includes responsibility for delivering timely, robust and effective supervision that enhances audit standards and supports business confidence.
The successful candidate will bring proven relevant senior leadership experience from a regulatory, audit or similar context. This person will be a strategic thinker with proven ability to influence, lead teams, and manage complex relationships in high-profile or sensitive environments. This person will bring experience of engaging with senior stakeholders, be able to drive change both in relation to devising and embedding new procedures and can inspire high performance and continual improvement in teams. They will have a deep commitment to public interest regulation and possess the vision to help evolve a world-class regulator.
